FORD ANNIVERSARY GALA EVENT: PROJECTION ART INSTALLATION
My business partner, Tobias Arturi and I were tasked with creating an hour of animated content for the Wayne Akers Ford Dealership Gala. The installation remained at the dealership from February 2016-2017. The client asked that the content be creative and abstract while representing the brand and its epic history, combining vintage and modern in a kaleidoscope of cars.
In order to compartmentalize the project into something manageable, we created a concept that features a series of homages to Ford, using different methods and materials to produce different aesthetics for each section. In order to complete the project, we employed two talented friends, Christopher Jung and Kevin Cox.

MACRO CAR MESH TREATMENT
The Macro Mesh treatment was devised as a way to feature beautiful still images of Ford cars, in motion. Each image was cut and woven back together at different scales and with different color treatments to create an aesthetic that both highlights and abstracts the vehicle.

VIDEO FEEDBACK TREATMENT
Video feedback represents an unstoppable, evolving form. Much like the WAF and the Ford motor company, the original input for a video feedback loop affects every part of its evolution following it. These ever-changing, influenceable but uncontrollable visuals represent the dynamic nature of a company, of its products, of the particles colliding, and exploding outward in every engine Ford produces. Somewhat unrecognizable but occasionally apparent are the images of the moments and cars, and perhaps the people that define Ford's decades of history, innovation and success.

MUSTANG OVER THE YEARS TREATMENT
The mustang is easily the most recognizable of Ford’s cars. Aside from the legendary F-150, few vehicles are so widely known, and so widely coveted. We watch the mustang develop, from curves to angles back to curves again, and follow the evolution of the iconic design from 1964 to 2015 and then back again.

The Schematics Treatment is intended to give the audience a view inside of America's most iconic car. We used real Ford schematics that we treated aesthetically and animated to created an infographic experience of a Ford engine.

PISTON AND ENGINE ABSTRACTION TREATMENT
The action of a firing piston is so recognizable, we barely have to see it at all to know exactly what is happening. We see that moment as fuel is delivered, it is compressed, the spark and the explosion. These elements are so simple but so effective because of their motion - use abstract forms to create recognizable forms through motion - headlights zoom past us, leave motion trails, a rectangle and two circles come together for a moment and chug along like an automobile, and then split away.

Continuing with the theme of evolution and development, this treatment meshes vintage visuals with contemporary techniques. Using Processing, we created code to generate abstract shapes and sequences of images to reveal newer ford designs below the classic body styles.

INFINITE ZOOM TREATMENT
The Infinite Zoom treatment is a bold aesthetic for classic and modern Fords. The composition allows for different cars to be endlessly presented to the viewer. Glossy textures highlight the modern cars, while halftone textures and vintage colors compliment the more vintage automobiles.
