Barco is the world's oldest cinema projector company, dating back almost to the invention of motion pictures. The company name is synonymous with cinema around the world. In 2024, Barco released a new line of laser projection technology that refines the viewing experience with true blacks, bulbs that don't dim until they die, and a bespoke material on which to project, allowing theaters to update their approach to projection

Barco took advantage of the their venue at Cinemacon to release several new projects including new laser projection technology. The Freeman team designed a series of ambient 3D background animations inspired by Barco innovation, coupled with animated typography to illustrate product announcements. In order to establish a brand identity in a space intended to deliver a gallery experience, Freeman expanded on an existing brand asset, bringing it into motion at a life size scale. The logo is refracted via light inside the brand asset to reference modern and historical projection technology.

The content team worked closely with our counterparts at Barco to develop three looks for their 2024 Cinemacon instillation. The challenge was to develop an abstract immersive environment that represented the history of Barco while highlighting the new technology that they were releasing to the public. Each look took over the room at different times in the show to educate attendees on all of the new products while providing a cinematic experience that they wouldn't forget.
